High in the mountains behind Ocho Rios, a European-trained chef, Neville Anderson, prepares Continental fare that would have passed muster in pre-nouvelle-cuisine Paris. In a quaint, 17th-century tavern nestled on lush grounds, Café Aubergine, Highway A1 just south of Moneague, (876) 973-0527, provides a peaceful and cozy escape from crowded restaurants in Ocho Rios and serves dishes like medallions of pork tenderloin in mushroom sherry sauce and grilled red snapper fillet with mango vinaigrette. Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday though Sunday. Reservations are a must. Dinner for two with wine, $80 USD
