Negril beach is probably one of the most famous beaches in the world. Its 7-mile sugary, white sand beach is a magnet for sun and fun lovers and the area has become one of the prime locations for tourists; from spring breakers to families. The evolution over tha past several years has transformed Negril from a sleepy fishing village to party town, and now to a complete vacation destination that caters from young singles to families. Montego Bay, Jamaica's main tourist town and home to some of the finest golf courses in Jamaica is just about an hour away.

Attractions:

• Seven Mile Beach - is is the main reason Negril has achieved its world-wide fame: this is the beach know even to people who have never been to Jamaica.
• Rick's Cafe - is where everyone wants to be for cocktails at sunset. Located on the rocks of Negril's west end Rick's is also famous for the daring divers who plunge from the cliffs into the Caribbean Sea below. Definitely a must stop for everyone visiting Negril.
• Negril Lighthouse - located on the West End Road, past Rick's Cafe, is a 100 foot tall structure and powered by solar energy. The power source was converted back in 1985, just a decade before it's 100th anniversary. The Negril landmark still guides ships safely around Jamaica's western end.
• Mayfield Falls - river walk begins with crossing a bamboo bridge to a captivatingf bamboo village, trek through river currents, luxuriate in the 7 natural Jacuzzis, climb the 21 waterfalls-3\4miles in distance. This is truly amazing fun for the entire family!
• Roaring River & Blue Hole - Gushing from a hole in meadow full of hyacinths and water lilies, the mineral water forms an excellent spot to meditate. Steps lead to a cave and a hole for swimming. Off Beat but a nice way to spend a day!
• Kool Runnings Water Park - Fill your day with 10 amazing water slides, quarter mile of lazy river, Captain Mikie's Coconut Island for the kids, great food and games galore. Stop over at Anancy Village to enjoy the go-kart, bungee trampoline and carousel rides, and to have an all round Jamaican cultural experience.... And one more thing, don't miss the Park Mascot, Mikie Manatee, doing the "Mikie Skank" on the Kool entertainment stage, a delight for the entire family.
• Little Bay - Just a little south of the West End of Negril lays this sleepy little community. Famous for being a former "hangout" of Bob Marley, this spot has some nice beaches and friendly people. You can visit Bob Marley's Spring where he used to bathe. Great place to get away from the hustle of Negril.
• Peter Tosh's Monument in Belmont - A beautiful drive down Jamaica's South Western Coast from Sav-La-Mar brings you to the fishing village of Belmont and to the birth and resting place of one of the founding members of the Wailers….Peter Tosh. Memorable for the Reggae Aficionados!
• Sugar Plantation Tour at Frome - Free tours arranged if you call for reservations. Site of labor dispute that sparked Jamaica's Labour Movement and first Political Party. Huge working plantation built in 1938 by the West Indies Sugar Company. Informative tour. Informally run.
• Negril Hills Golf Club - Whether you are a casual golfer or the competitive maverick, all the challenge and enjoyment you value in a golf game is yours at this tournament class golf course. • Horseback Riding - This time at Rhodes Mineral Springs & Beach. Crocodiles at the mouth of the river, hot mineral springs bubbling at the beach and thatched roof bars and snack shop. Oh, horseback riding too! Beach Party on Sunday night! Definitely a different experience!
• Scooter Rentals - rent a scooter from one of the many establishments in the area to run around Negril.
  

Grocery Shopping:

• ValueMaster Supermarket - at the Roundabout in the town is one of the two main grocery stores in Negril.
• Hi-Lo Grocery Store - in the Hi-Lo Shopping Centre on West End Road. Here's your chance to enjoy Blue Mountain coffee, Jamaican spices, and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
  

Shopping:

• Time Square Mall - (tel. 876/957-9263) At long last, Negril has a shopping mall to equal the ones found in Mo Bay or Ocho Rios. It's located on Norman Manley Boulevard across from the much-frequented nightclub Bourbon Each. More than five duty-free shops and souvenir stores await you, including a courtyard cafe.
• Negril Crafts Market - A collection of shacks, this is the largest center for crafts in the area, though they're sold virtually everywhere, including along the beach. Woodcarvings, beds, jewelry, and other items fill the market. Haggling is expected; begin by offering half the price you're quoted.
  

Dining:

• Rick's Cafe - opened in 1974. Top Sunset Bar and Grill. Great Service, people watching, cliff divers, sunset, watching the dancers on the dance floor. Cliff Divers dive for tips. They do this for a living.
• Bar b Barn - You can sip a cup of Jamaica's best Blue Mountain Coffee or you can just relax and listen to the sound of the blue Caribbean Sea. On the horizon you can see the Caribbean's most spectacular sunset right here every afternoon.You can sample a combination of local and international dishes prepared with that special Jamaican flair.
• 3 dives - is a locally run place, not much more then a tin shack with a few tables and chairs, on top of the cliffs overlooking the sea. there is not much of a menu, mainly chicken, goat and fish. its famous with locals though, because of the jerk chicken, and other curried varieties.
• Margaritaville - Hot on the heels of Margaritaville Montego Bay, Margaritaville Negril opened in December 1996 along Negril’s world famous 7-mile stretch of white sand beach. Encouraged by the runaway success of the Montego Bay restaurant they opened less than a year earlier, Brian and Ian opened the Negril branch of the beach bar and grill to the delight of tourists and locals alike.
• Rockhouse Restaurant - award winning Jamaican executive chef, Kevin Broderick, worked with Fabian Ippoliti, Managing Director and co-owner of the Rockhouse, to develop the restaurant's menu. The Rockhouse Menu honors the tradition of Jamaican cuisine, with humble but tasty coconut toast, ackee and salt fish, and jerk chicken spiced with a scotch bonnet sauce. However, the best dishes are constructed from a fusion of different origins, creating mixtures of tanginess, hot pepper, rich sauces, the flavorful spice of curries, and the cool sweetness of tropical fruits. Signature dishes include Lobster Blaze, Crab Turnover and Blackened Mahi Mahi served with mango chutney.
• The Hungry Lion - some of the best seafood and vegetarian dishes are found at this laid-back alfresco hangout on the cliffs. Instead of the usual Red Stripe beer, you can visit the juice bar and sample the tropical punches with or without rum. Menus change daily, depending on what's available in the local markets.
• Jucy J's - (popular with locals) head past the mismatched chairs and tables of the front rooms to the pinewood bar in back, meet the staff, and have a glass of fruit punch, coffee, beer, or rum. Then select from a list of good-tasting food that includes grilled, steamed, or (our favorite) escoveitch of fish; four different preparations of chicken, including a version with curry; lasagna; or lobster.
