Alan and Reg, We had the best vacation of our lives at Edgewater. Our family of seven, two married sons and daughter, could not have been more pleased with the villa. First of all, it was not the villa's top-notch accommodations or its amazing setting on the beach which impressed us the most. We fell in love with Edgewater primarily because of the staff. Gloria kept us looking forward to every meal. Her meals were superb and expertly prepared to adjust for our tastes. Our family meals at Edgewater on the veranda overlooking the ocean were definitely our best dining experiences on the island. Elaine ensured our living areas were spotless everyday and even helped with some laundry items. From tropical drinks by the pool to serving meals Elaine helped make the week go too quick. Damon became a soul-mate of our sons as he rose early to clean the pool and care for the garden. With the World Cup in play we had fun rooting for our teams and just learning about life in Jamaica. Damon also joined in the serving of the evening meals -- sorta made us feel the whole family had gathered. Patrick greeted us each evening and maintained a comforting watch as our family rested the evening getting ready for the next day's activities. In every way, our time at Edgewater was better than we could have imagined. Our family will return to Edgewater as soon as we can. Finally, we could not have been more pleased with our driver, Harry of Karandas Tours. Harry always had a song or a story to keep us entertained. Harry saved us at Dunn River Falls! Unaware we had left our money in the van, we left his van to enter the Falls. Harry, amazingly, had positioned himself to observe our entry. He noticed our peril and rescued us. Our day at the Falls would have been ruined without the wise and caring attitude Harry showed that day ... and every day of our stay. He even took us on random trips to show us the sights and a surprise visit to James Bond Beach and Sting Ray Bay. We also recommend the Day Pass at Couples next door. We arranged a 1pm to 10 pm day pass which allowed the guys to play 9 holes of golf and the women pick snorkeling and other activitites. We closed the evening with dinner at Bayside overlooking the ocean. Other trips we took which I recommend are ATV Wilderness Tours and our River Tubing Harry recommended there in Ocho Rios. Suffice it to say, we were pleased beyond our dreams and wholeheartedly recommend Edgewater. Alan and Reg, thank you for all your help. Nat

Alan & Reg,  I want to thank you guys for helping with the initial process of renting the Villa. You were quick to respond to all of my questions and provided all the information that we needed to make the trip relaxing and enjoyable. I appreciate the alternatives and the quick response that you provided us due to the pool problem with Afterglow.  I am impressed with your level of customer satisfaction and follow through.  Our stay at the Edgewater Villa was the MOST relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience tha my wife and I had the pleasure of experienceing. The Villa staff Gloria, Elaine, Daimion, Patrick, and our driver Denton made us feel at home and took care of our every need. Gloria prepared exceptional food day after day and was quick to provide any little extras that we needed. Elaine not only took care of helping with the food and the upkeep of the house but she provided childcare for our 2 1/2 year old boy, Andrew. My wife still comments on the fact that she could relax and trust the care that Andrew was receiving while Elaine was taking care of him. I know for a fact that without the childcare service that Elaine provided my wife and I would not have had nearly as relaxing a vacation. Daimion was quick to help out and kept the grounds looking impecable. The pool was cleaned each and every morning so that my daughter could enjoy swimming in the pool. Plus, my son came away learning the Jamaican handshake from Daimion.  I have to say that when the recommendation was made for a private driver and vehicle I had my doubts. My doubts regarding the service were immediatly done away with upon our arrival. Our flight ended up being delayed from Houston due to weather and then on top of that my own bag was lost. Once I filed the claim and pulled the rest of the luggage through customers I did not expect the driver to still be waiting. I was NEVER so relieved to find Denton waiting for us right outside of the airport. He was quick to help with suggestions of activities, places to eat, shopping, and all island information. I enjoyed his easygoing nature and relaxed attitude that helped us destress throughout the vacation. Denton made himself available and made a lifelong impression on my wife and I that we will not forget.  If my wife's comments are any prediction of the future we will be going back to Jamaica! Hi Reg and Alan.  Our vacation at Edgewater was FANTASTIC!!!!! The villa was beautiful, the weather was amazing and the food was phenomenal. This was our first villa vacation and I have to say it won't be our last. A group of 7 of us stayed at Edgewater and we all left with some great memories and a lot of laughs. The staff at Edgewater were so courteous, helpful, friendly and all had great smiles. Gloria - thank you for all the wonderful meals. My fiancé who is Chinese-Jamaican was craving home cooked Jamaican meals and he couldn't have asked for anything more from the meals. Gloria knew just how much to cook and everything had just enough spice for everyone. Elaine - thanks for keeping our rooms clean (especially the boys) and for being patient with us during dinner. Reid - thanks for the coconuts and for always serving us with a smile. Also thanks to Patrick who helped us feel safe at night and who always popped his head in to say a quick hello!  Our driver Dwight Soares was great. He was great with suggestions and was always looking out for our best interest and our safety. We were unsure as to whether hiring a driver was necessary for the week, but after spending a week with Dwight the money was definitely well spent.  The only area that we wish could be different was the beach which we didn't use much due to seaweed in the water.  But it was very minor and it didn't take away from our experience.  The pictures on the website were great as were the descriptions. I was hesitant to book a trip especially for such a large group from pictures on an internet site, but your site was very informative and had great pics.   Although the pictures definitely didn't do justice to how beautiful it was at Edgewater Villa.  Thanks for your help and believe me you've converted some of us "resort" vacationers to "villa" vacationers. Dear Reg and Alan, We had a wonderful time at Edgewater. From beginning to end, all went smoothly. The villa was beautiful, stunning views, great family areas. The staff was excellent and really made the holiday go so well. Gloria is an amazing chef, Elaine, so kind and great with children, and Reid, always helpful and informative about local culture/tradition. Reginald,  Edgewater villa was absolutely wonderful. We had a beautiful wedding on site and it couldn't have been more lovely. The staff was professional and helpful. Reid, our gardener, went out of his way to make sure the villa looked top notch for the wedding ceremony.  I also was very very pleased with our driver, Dwight Soares from Reliable Taxi. He was absolutely fantastic and did a lot of research and made some excellent suggestions for us.   We hope to become regular visitors! Thank you, Nick and Rachel

Dear Alan and Reg, I was just thinking as I was making breakfast (for the first time since the 21st of March) how I wanted to let you know how my vacation went in regards to Edgewater Villa.  I really enjoyed my stay, putting it mildly. Mr. Reed, Gloria, and Helene became part of my extended Jamaican family while I was on the island and yet they never strayed from their professional demeanor and service the entire time.   This trip was the first for me, staying in a villa. Half a dozen times or so I have stayed at a resort. The villa made my island time more like home time, without all the responsibilities. Our next family vacation will include a villa, so you will most likely hear from me again. It would be fun to try another villa but I must say that knowing Gloria, Helene, and Mr. Reed at Edgewater, gives a strong pull for Edgewater. I hope feedback from clients like myself get forwarded to the service staff, in words and tangible assets for certainly the service staff can make a vacation more or less wonderful.  The birthday party was a lot of fun.  I guess this is the best part about a villa rental, feeling like you are home.  It was very difficult to leave Jamaica this time, as never before. Reg:  Its tough deciding where to start on our trip to Edgewater. We had four couples who (although very close) haven't had an opportunity to catch up in a while. From the arrival at the airport Walter (our driver for the trip) was incredibly helpful, both in transporting us around and advising us on where to go and what to do. The Edgewater is a beautiful home perfectly designed for the 4 couples. Gloria (the cook) was delightful and she and Elaine and Reed did everything possible to make us feel at home. Our group is not used to being waited on and they were very gracious and helpful. Gloria's cooking was outstanding and after a day we simply relied on her and were never disappointed. I feel like we had a great environment to relax, unwind and learn a little about Jamaica. Thanks for all your coordination. Planning the trip was really very easy through the website and email correspondence and the trip came off without a hitch. I am copying my travel mates so that they can respond if they disagree or want to add anything. I will certainly recommend SunVillas and hope that we can return soon! Scott

Alan, Just wanted to thank you again for getting everything together for us. We loved both Edgewater and Afterglow villas.  The wedding was perfect and wedding coordinator (Marilyn Burrowes) was great. We could not have asked for anything different. We can only give you the best rating.  Also what can we say about Denton our van driver. As I said in my previous message , we'll plan our next visit only if Denton is available. When you talk to Denton the next time ask him about the fish???????? Our best man got us Billy Bass (it's one of those fish that sings) Denton youngest son had a great time playing with it....one song it sang was DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY it was a real hit ..... thanks again.  George and Robyn

Hi Alan,  Just to let you know we had a great time! Edgewater exceeded our expectations, as did the staff. Gloria and Elaine are great; the food and service was outstanding. Both of them put forth tremendous effort to make our visit pleasant. We would never consider staying anywhere else on the island, just because of them. We are going to try to make this an annual event. The driver we got from Villa Car,  Roderick, was courteous and of course very knowledgeable about the island. He went above and beyond the call of duty, and was extremely watchful of everyone in our party.  Thanks for all of your help; your advice was invaluable and please let everyone know how impressed we were with the facility and staff.  BTW the Couples Resort was no problem whatsoever for us and I agree with you; it made us feel less remote. We never saw a soul when we were out back because of the trees and vegetation but it was almost comforting to know it was there. I know you're busy but if you have a chance let me know how to contact Gloria and Elaine, and also our driver. We became fast friends and would like to keep in touch as we definitely plan to go back next year. They endeared themselves to us that much in a matter of 8 days. All of our previous family island vacations had been in resorts, so I was a little apprehensive about staying somewhere with a staff in residence.  It was the absolute BEST vacation we have ever had. The staff was courteous and friendly but never intrusive ~ what also happened for us is that we operated as a family. All meals and activities were planned together and with 4 teenagers this is a feat. When you stay in a resort with separate rooms the whole family concept is lost. Our kids are even talking about meeting up and doing this when they are married. God bless your website which I stumbled across when I read that Ocho Rios was the best place to stay. I wish I could convey to everyone to go out and explore the island; there is so much there! Truly a vacation to remember! Talk to you next year! Debbie

Hi, Alan. Just to let you know that our vacation was all that we expected and more. The arrangements all came off flawlessly, and the staff at Edgewater - Gloria, Elaine, and Lloyd - was simply superb in every way. They accommodated the somewhat complicated diet of our older daughter and still prepared meals that were wonderful. Little touches like a cold carafe of water at our bedside each evening, unrequested pina coladas by the pool before dinner, advice about where to hear good music (with Lloyd as our guide) all made the vacation memorable. And the beauty of the villa, the plantings, the pool, the view were just the environment we needed for complete relaxation. Finally, our driver, John Ashmead, was really the highlight of the whole trip. He made wonderful suggestions of things to see and do. He took us places we would never have found on our own, and was a warm and genial presence every day. Our kids fell in love with him. We had a personal guide to Jamaica and all things Jamaican in John. He was a delight.. By the way, the situation with phones is that, at the moment, NO American calling card will work from the phone in the villa. A high level of fraud seems to be the explanation. Hi Alan,  We just got back from Ocho Rios and the Edgewater Villa.  To say that this was a great two weeks would be an understatement.  The people of Jamaica and especially the staff at the villa, Gloria, Elaine, Lloyd and our driver Roderick really made this a memorable trip.  Edgewater is an absolutely beautiful villa and the foliage, flowers and trees on the grounds are something that New Englanders like us just never get a chance to experience.  Our favorite spot at the villa was definitely the gazebo.  We spent many hours in the gazebo just relaxing,  enjoying the view and the ocean breeze while sipping our drinks. The food was excellent and we enjoyed many things that we never had before. (We never knew that breadfruit was so delicious.)   Another thing that really impressed us was the accuracy of all the information and pictures that are on your web site.  I'm sure that there are many people like us who view your site and think that there must be some exaggeration, but after being at Edgewater for two weeks, I can say with certainty that "what you get is better than what you see!"  Thank you for you help in making this vacation a most memorable one and if we can provide references to other potential visitors to Edgewater, please feel free to contact us. Dear Alan,  We were absolutely delighted with Edgewater, and Gloria and Elaine and Paul were wonderful.  The best thing about being at the villa was that it was far enough away from the all inclusive (Couples) so it appeared to be almost the same as twenty years ago. I used Lyndel Brown's car and he was great. Much to short of a stay, I am butting together next years schedule, and I will be in touch to book for two weeks at the same place. Jo Ann
